Gold-Medal winner Neeraj Chopra’s javelin, an Indian track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw in Tokyo Olympics 2021 was all set to be auctioned at the base price of 1 crore since September 17at 10:00 am.

Gold-Medal winner Neeraj Chopra’s javelin was all set to be auctioned at the base price of 1 crore since September 17 at 10:00 am with the highest quoted price Rs.11,25,00,000 at present. Chopra is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics.

He is also the first track and field athlete from India to win at the IAAF World U20 Championships, where he made a world under-20 record by throwing javelin to 86.48 m distance, becoming the first Indian athlete to set a world record. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people on twitter on Sunday to take part in the auction of several gifts and mementos that he has received over the years.

The auction is organized by the Ministry of Culture which is all set to run between September 17 and October 7, 2021. The Ministry has announced a website: https:/pmmementos.gov.in from where persons/organisations can participate in the e-Auction.

There are several categories divided according to the items like wood, brass, gold, metallic, silver, metal, POP, ceramic, brass, cloth, textile art, photo, cloth, poster, photo, painting, acrylic and canvas etc. Namami Gange Programme, is an Integrated conservation mission, approved as flagship programme by the Union government in June 2014 to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga.

PM Modi on twitter said, “Over the time I have received several gifts and momentos which are being auctioned. This includes special momentos given by our Olympic heroes. Do take part in the auction. The proceeds would go to the ‘Namami Gange’ initiative.” Sports equipment and gears of India’s Olympics and Paralympics stars, including badminton rackets of Krishna Nagar and S L Yathiraj, and gloves of Lovlina Borgohain, are among the mementos that are drawing the maximum attention in the e-auction.

Last time during the auction organised at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), a specially handcrafted wooden bike received a successful bid of ₹5 lakhs. Similarly, a wooden replica of the Ashok Stambh, which had a base price of ₹4,000 was sold for ₹13 lakh.
