Maha Kumbh: PM Modi dips into ‘moment of divine connection’ | India News

NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi took a dip in the waters of Triveni Sangam on Wednesday to the accompaniment of Vedic hymns, becoming one with crores of pilgrims who have trooped to Maha Kumbh every day since Jan 13 to experience what he described as “a moment of divine connection“.
“Blessed to be at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj… Like crores who have taken part in it, I am also filled with a spirit of devotion. May Maa Ganga bless all with peace, wisdom, good health and harmony,” Modi, who wore a saffron jacket and held rudraksh beads, wrote on X. Before stepping into the waters, the PM prayed to Surya and performed rituals honouring Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, followed by Ganga pujan and aarti. He shared pictures and a video of his visit with the caption, “The confluence of faith, devotion and spirituality in the divine and grand Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj is overwhelming everyone.” Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath later took a boat ride back to the helipad. A statement from PMO described Modi’s ritual at Sangam as “a moment of historical significance, coinciding with auspicious alignment of two celestial events, Gupt Navratri and Bhishmashtami”.
