‘Nitish’s B-team’: Tejashwi Yadav’s veiled dig at Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraaj Party | India News

NEW DELHI: In a veiled dig, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday accused the Jan Suraaj Party led by poll strategist turned politician Prashant Kishore of functioning as ‘B team’ of the Nitish Kumar‘s ruling NDA alliance. After police used force to disperse students protesting students, the former deputy CM, said the protesting students were “misled” into marching towards Gandhi Maidan.
“This movement was started by students. The nearly two week-long dharna at Gardani Bagh, where I also had gone recently, had caused the government to tremble. At this moment, came some elements acting as the government’s B team,” Yadav said.
“The protesters were misled into marching towards Gandhi Maidan, despite warnings from the administration against doing so. And, when the time to face lathi charge and water cannons came, those who had offered to lead the protests, chose to run away,” he added.
Although Kishor was not present when the police resorted to using force, he had addressed the protesters earlier on Sunday alongside his supporters. This resulted in an FIR being filed against Kishor, Jan Suraaj Party president Manoj Bharti, and several others.
Earlier that day, Kishor had joined the protesters at Gandhi Maidan. In the evening, the group attempted to march toward the chief minister’s residence, prompting police action.
Meanwhile, Yadav pledged that his party would provide “political support” to the protesters in their demand for the cancellation of the Combined Competitive Exams conducted on December 13, which saw over five lakh candidates appearing at more than 900 centers across the state.
“But you must not get swayed by empty promises. Stick to your guns. January 4 is still a few days away. There is time enough to bring the government to its knees. It is nonsensical to say the BPSC does not come under the government. Its chairman is an appointee of the chief minister, who also happens to hold the Home portfolio, the department which controls the police,” said Yadav.
The BPSC has announced a re-examination for over 10,000 candidates assigned to Bapu Pariksha Parisar, an examination center in the city where hundreds had boycotted the tests, alleging a “leak” of question papers.
Dismissing these claims, the BPSC stated that the disruption was part of a “conspiracy” aimed at having the exam cancelled.
