'No videshi chingari this time': PM Modi's 'shararat' jibe at opposition ahead of Budget session 2025

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday took a jibe at the opposition saying that it was the first time since 2014, that there was no attempt to spark any “foreign interference” ahead of a Budget session.
“This is perhaps the first session of Parliament since 2014, in which no foreign spark has flared up a day or two before, no attempt has been made to ignite a fire from abroad,” he said in his address ahead of the Union Budget session at Parliament.

What’s Your Opinion on the Remark Ahead of Budget Session 2025?

“I have been observing since 2014 that before every session, people are ready to create mischief and here there is no dearth of people to support them. This is the first session I am seeing after 10 years in which no spark was ignited from any foreign corner,” he added.
Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently attacked Congress, alleging a link with US-based billionaire George Soros, and pushing anti-national propaganda in the Parliament.

‘Never talks on people’s issues’: Opposition reacts

Opposition leaders reacted to PM Modi’s remark with Wayanad MP and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accusing him of ignoring “the issues of the people”.
“He (referring to PM Modi) always does this. He never talks on the issues of the people, doesn’t address them,” she said.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram called the “foreign interference” comment by PM Modi “surprising” and said: “It is surprising that the Prime Minister has said that there has been foreign interference in the last 10 years under his watch. It’s incumbent upon him to expose that foreign interference and use every organ of the state and all forums he has internationally to expose them and go after them legally.”

PM Modi lays an outline for the Budget

PM Modi, in his speech, laid out the agenda for the Union budget 2025 with a special focus on ‘Viksit Bharat‘.
“In this budget session, all the MPs will contribute towards strengthening developed India. This is a golden opportunity especially for the young MPs. Because the more awareness and participation they increase in the House, the more fruits of a developed India they will see before their eyes. Therefore, this is a precious opportunity for young MPs,” he said.
Highlighting the economic strategy of “innovation, inclusion, and investment”, he said, “During this session, as in the past, many significant bills will be discussed in the House. After thorough deliberation, these bills will be enacted into law to strengthen the nation.”
Additionally, he said that decisions would be taken regarding the upliftment of women, ensuring “a respectable life and equal rights without any discrimination of caste and creed.”
“Many important decisions will be taken in this session, especially to re-establish the pride of women power, to ensure that every woman gets a respectable life and equal rights without any discrimination of caste and creed,” he said.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget 2025 on February. The first part of the Parliamentary Budget session, which started on Friday, is set to continue till February 13 and the two Houses will again meet on March 10 after recess with the session concluding on April 4.
