Punjab SIT to probe human trafficking racket | India News

Punjab Police constituted on Friday a four-member special investigation team (SIT) to conduct “a comprehensive and effective investigation” into illegal human trafficking/illegal migration. The move comes after the deportation from the US of Indians residing illegally there.
In Haryana, state police have decided to probe the complaints made by the deportees or their kin.There were 33 people from Haryana among the 104 deported from the US who had fallen victim to illegal travel agents and had used the “donkey route” to reach the US. The Punjab Police team is tasked with “uncovering the facts, identifying those responsible, and recommending measures” to combat illegal migration. tnn
