NEW DELHI: Opposition MPs led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday staged a protest and also a mock ‘interview’ over the the Adani issue to corner the BJP-led NDA government. Wearing masks, two opposition MPs impersonated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and billionaire Gautam Adani, responding to questions posed by Rahul Gandhi.
When Rahul Gandhi asked the lawmakers wearing Adani and Modi masks to describe their “relationship,” they replied, “We do everything together. We have had a relationship for years.”

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s query about why Parliament proceedings had stalled, the MPs under the mask said, “He is missing today. Amit bhai (Union home minister Amit Shah) did not come to the House today.”
The MP wearing Adani’s mask added, “Whatever I say, he does it,” pointing to his colleague wearing the PM Modi mask.
Rahul Gandhi took to X and posted the photo of the interview, saying “This is a special and long standing relationship!”.

From the outset of the winter session, both Houses have faced repeated disruptions as the opposition continues to press the Central government for a discussion on bribery charges allegedly involving Adani in the United States. Today was no different, with the Lok Sabha being adjourned after opposition members raised the issue again.
However, members of Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) and Samajwadi Party were not a part of the protest. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) MP Supriya Sule was also not present in the protest.
Speaking about the TMC not joining the opposition party’s protest on Adani issue, MP Kirti Azad said that it is for the Congress to take everyone along.
“Being a senior party, Congress will have to take everyone along and if they do not take everyone along, then it is natural that there will be problems…when the Congress is not able to give the INDIA alliance what the opposition needs, then in such a situation, the capable person is Mamata Banerjee,” Kirti Azad said.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to participate in the Winter Session of Parliament and not to shy away from an investigation into Adani.
In a Facebook post, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Modi ji, come to Parliament, don’t fear an inquiry into Adani.” The Congress party, along with its INDIA bloc allies, has consistently pressed for a discussion on Adani’s alleged indictment in the United States since the start of the Winter Session.
